red string of fate

"an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet,
regardless of time, place, or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle,
but it will never break."
- an ancient chinese belief

this belief has grown to be popular is east asia. it is said that the gods tie a red thread to the ankles or pinky of a man and a woman. these two are said to be destined to marry and become lovers. and no matter if the thread were to get tangled or stretched, it will not break.

"when isolation surrounds me,
i tug a little on my red thread,
and wait in the darkness,
for you to tug back."
